The Dyson Gen5 Detect has a slightly modified design that’s a welcome relief, including a power button, an integrated crevice tool and a bigger battery. However, the extra weight from the latter two makes the handstick unwieldy, particularly as a handheld machine. There are improvements to the motor too but, in real-world use, there’s not a noticeable difference between the Gen5 and the V15. That said, the former is quieter than its predecessor. All told, the Gen5 Detect is a great vacuum, but the weight and very steep price make it hard to recommend.
