The collaboration was detailed on GM’s Corporate Newsroom blog, which states the 5G connectivity will roll out in certain 2024 model-year vehicles. The collaboration is part of the two companies’ intent to “launch the world’s largest fleet of 5G-enabled vehicles.”

The 5G network will bring better roadway coverage, faster music and video downloads at a higher quality, enhanced navigation service, and secure over-the-air updates for the vehicles. GM also said 2019 model-year vehicles that are 4G-LTE capable will benefit as well, since they will experience faster speeds and performance.
